Turn the KEYFRAME GENERATOR OFF as you set up the cameras - you don't actually want them to start moving yet
1. Create a Camera
  • Use BUILD - ADD CAMERA
  • Click OKAY

2. Move it into position
  • Locate and ROTATE this camera so that it will catch the view of the Saucer emerging from the far side of the planet

3. Create a THIRD Camera
  • Use BUILD - ADD CAMERA
  • Click OKAY

Attach it to the Saucer as a "wingcam"
  • Double click your Saucer and make sure it's been named "Saucer"
  • Double click the camera and change it's PARENT to read "Saucer"

The camera is now a "Child" of the Saucer - the "Child" is attached to the "Parent. Any movement applied to the Saucer "Parent" will also effect the camera.

4. Adjust the Wingcam
  • Rotate the camera so that it's aiming at the Saucer

Activating the Cameras

Here are the rules for "MultiCams" to work:
  1. Cameras are ACTIVATED by double clicking them and "Adding a Key" with a value of ONE
  2. Only one camera can be active at any given time
  3. Camera1 is by default, the first active camera in your scene

5. To Activate the WingCam
  • Switch to Camera View [1]
  • Turn on the KEYFRAME GENERATOR
  • Scrub your way to the 5 second mark - this is about where you want to switch to the WingCam
  • Select the WingCam track in the timeline, and double click the appropriate frame

6. Toggle the WingCam as ACTIVE
  • IF everything goes well, you should be able to put a checkmark in the "ACTIVE" box and click OKAY
    • You should now see the WingCam's view in the regular Camera View [1]

  • IF the "Active" box is "greyed out", click OKAY and try a few other tricks:
    • Try turning off the Keyframe generator
    • Try turning off the other active camera (give it a "zero-key" - see below)
    • Try saving the file, quitting Anim8or, then starting it up again
    • Try Deleting the camera and re-build it

Cameras can be tricky to get working - be patient and don't give up! The results are worth it!
